Championing Kidney Health

Donating to kidney research is a powerful way to make a lasting impact on millions of lives. Kidney disease affects 1 in 7 adults worldwide, often progressing silently until it's too late—leading to dialysis, transplants, or even death. Despite its prevalence, kidney research remains significantly underfunded compared to other major diseases. Your support can help unlock breakthroughs in early detection, prevention, and innovative treatments that can halt or even reverse kidney damage. Every dollar brings us closer to a future where no one has to suffer from this debilitating condition. By donating, you're not just giving money—you're giving hope, time, and life.
Support Kidney Research
We are a team of high school students from Palos Verdes High School striving to fund research for kidney disease. Having learned about the prevalence of kidney disease and the desperate need for research funding, we decided to take action by creating a fund raising campaign. The 1-in-7 Campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for kidney disease research. Our goal is to support scientists working toward better treatments while educating our community about the impact of this widespread condition.
Meet The Directors
Meet the One-in-Seven Teams
This year, seven student teams have come together with a shared mission: to raise awareness and critical funds for kidney disease research at the USC Kidney Research Center (KRC). Through student-led outreach, community engagement, and creative fundraising initiatives, these teams are learning to translate science into impact—educating their peers and local community while directly supporting innovative research aimed at improving the lives of the 1 in 7 Americans affected by kidney disease. Together, their efforts demonstrate the power of youth leadership in advancing health, advocacy, and discovery.

Kidney Research at USC
The core mission of the Vito M Campese MD/UKRO Kidney Research Center at USC is to support, perform, and advance state-of-the-art kidney and related cardiovascular, hypertension, and metabolism research by bringing together investigators from multiple disciplines to work collaboratively toward improving the understanding of the intricate functions and mechanisms of the kidney in health and disease. Visit the USC KRC website to meet all 16 investigators and learn more about their research.

Turning Awareness Into Action for Kidney Health
Our teams work hard in this program. We learn about kidney health, ask a lot of questions, and push ourselves to understand why it matters for people in our community. We don’t just keep what we learn in the classroom—we talk to others, raise awareness, and try to make a real difference. Being part of this has made us feel responsible, motivated, and proud to advocate for kidney health together.
